by the distinguished English architect, Brian O´Rourke, The
Berkeley Hotel opened in Belgravia in 1972, replacing
the old Berkeley which had been a landmark hotel in Piccadilly since
the turn of the century.
The hotel is situated in the heart of one of the most elegant residential
areas of London, on the corner of Wilton Place and Knightsbridge
moments from many of London's acclaimed museums and landmarks. The
Berkeley overlooks Hyde Park and is within easy reach of Knightsbridge
which offers some of the most exclusive shopping in London and the
most famous shop in the world - Harrods.
The hotel has 113 bedrooms and 44 suites, including three with their
own private conservatory and four-poster beds. The Berkeley has
it's own private rooftop health club, The Berkeley Health Club and
Spa has the only Christian Beauty Salon in Europe and a wide range
of Christian Dior products and treatments. It has also been pioneering
alternative treatments from LaStone therapy to Javanese Lulur exfoliation.

The Berkeley is home to two of London's top restaurants. Pierre
Koffman's La Tante Claire, tastefully decorated in beautiful lilacs
and mauves, serves the greatest French food in the capital. The
Vong, brainchild of famous chef Jean Georges Vongerichten, offers
a different but equally unforgettable collection of French-Thai
flavors and foods. The Berkeley also features a brand new Blue
bar, with leather floors, designed by the ultra hip David Collins.
The Blue Bar, one of London's hottest spots for cocktails and star
spotting, has a rooftop pool, with a retractable roof.
Period furniture from the old Berkeley enhances the new Berkeley
hotels atmosphere of a private home with many of the original
features, including paneling, fireplaces and chandeliers, all retained
offering stylish living at affordable prices.
For guests wishing to pamper themselves, the Berkeley Health Club
and Spa includes the only Christian Dior Salon in the world
offering a large selection of body treatments, salon services and
fitness programs. For the health conscious, the Health Club, Spa
and exercise facilities are available with a Doctor on call for
medical needs.
| The
Berkeley hotel has London's only rooftop swimming pool opens to
the sky. The swimming-pool offers panoramic views over Knightsbridge
and Hyde Park. A specially designed roof slides open to reveal the
sky in fine weather so you can top up your tan. You can order healthy
snacks on the sun terrace or even take part in water aerobic classes,
circuit training or body conditioning classes.

Afternoon Tea at The Berkeley, is traditionally the most
civilized part of the day. This English institution is a refreshing
pick-me-up after a hard day shopping in Knightsbridge. Served in
The Foyer you can enjoy traditional afternoon tea including sandwiches,
delicate pastries and scones with strawberry preserve and clotted
cream.
The
Grand Ballroom, ideal for private dining, meetings and special events,
may also be used in combination with any of the smaller rooms, according
to the needs of the occasion.
