ormandy
offers a wide range of leisure pursuits on land and sea all year
round, beginning with two superb golf courses : Golfs Barrière
de deauville
and Saint Julien.
Rated
amongst France’s top 20 prettiest & most established courses,
the Golf
Barrière of deauville
has always been the club to play in Normandy. With manicured fairways
and beautiful greens, the Golf Barrière of deauville
is in great condition all year round and the site is always maintained
to very high standards.
The
Golf Barrière
of deauville
is an exceptional place to include on your Normandy itinerary; a
beautiful technical layout, a pretty mix of undulating fairways
and a variety of holes added to the panoramic views over Deauville
and the Channel but also on holes 14 and 15, with views over the
Touques & Auge valley. |
Set
on the hills of Mont Canisy, the Golf Barrière of deauville
has thought of everything to host international competitions and
welcome both French and foreign visitors; an elegant setting, lots
of vegetation and beautifully designed fairways. The Golf has 27
holes. The original 18 hole course (the red and white nine hole courses)
was built by Tom Simpson in 1929. A par 71, an SSS of 72.3 and a
FFG slope rating of 130. With bigger roughs in the spring and summer,
this course becomes closer to a slope rating of 135….The other
nine hole course (the blue course) was designed in 1964 by Henry
Cotton.

Red
and White Course: 18 holes - 6,508 yards - par71,deceptively easy,
this course provides many a surprising challenge. The wide fairways
going out are complicated by the presence of new bunkers, whilst
things get even tougher at holes 12 and 13 which are both difficult
to deal with in two. The 16th offers a par 5 into the wind towards
an immaculate green

|
| Technically
speaking this course requires accuracy and strength with
two par 4’s of 400m – 437 yards and several
heavily bunkered par 3’s on the front nine. The back
nine are not easy neither; every hole can reveal the players
weaknesses. But playing the Golf Barrière of Deauville,
in any case, is a treat to remember. These courses offer
a range of technical challenges which players of all handicaps
will love

Golf
Barrière de Saint-Julien is ideally located in the
heart of the Pays d’Auge, this course is in one of
the greenest regions of France. This 27-hole (18 and 9)
course is set in the heart of an unspoilt listed 90-hectare
park and is sure to appeal to players of all levels. |
